Product Description

The Optomet Fiber-Multiplex is an extension of the Optomet Fiber series laser Doppler vibrometer that adds an integrated fiber switch. It measures vibration without contact using the Doppler effect, recording velocity, displacement and acceleration. The fiber switch connects several fiber heads to a single vibrometer, so measurements can be taken from different locations or angles by switching between heads rather than repositioning the optics.

The system covers a frequency bandwidth from DC to 25 MHz and measures vibrational velocities up to 30 m/s. Displacement resolution is below 100 femtometers, and signals are processed across a 32-bit dynamic range. A SWIR measurement laser at 1550 nm (class 1) performs the measurement and a visible 510-530 nm target laser (class 2) is used for alignment.

Three fiber head types can be connected: a Miniature Fiber Head with camera, a Compact Fiber Head with fixed working distances from 25 to 189 mm, and a Manual Focus Fiber Head covering short-range distances from 15 mm to 5 m and mid-range distances from 270 mm to 10 m. The main unit has a 3.5-inch colour touchscreen with a 20-segment LED bargraph, measures 380 × 180 × 148 mm and weighs 8 kg. Digital output is provided over Gigabit Ethernet or WiFi, with three analog BNC outputs, and the system is controlled through Optomet’s OptoGUI software.

The Fiber-Multiplex is used for multi-point vibration measurement where repositioning the optics is impractical, including turbine vibration at multiple points, modal and operational analysis, and measurements across complex surfaces or several test objects.
