Product Description
The Optomet Nova-Xtra is a single-point laser Doppler vibrometer in the CLASSIC Series. It measures the velocity, displacement and acceleration of a vibrating surface without contact, by evaluating the Doppler frequency shift of a laser beam reflected from the measurement point. Signal processing is digital and FPGA based.
The Nova-Xtra uses a short-wave infrared (SWIR) measurement laser at 1550 nm combined with an extra-long-range (XLR) lens, which extends the working distance from 2490 mm up to 300 m. A visible targeting laser at 510-530 nm marks the spot being measured. The system measures up to a frequency bandwidth of DC to 25 MHz and a maximum velocity of 30 m/s, with the exact ranges set by the fitted velocity decoder; displacement and acceleration decoders are optionally available.
The instrument is operated through a 3.5-inch color screen with a 20-segment LED bar, touch screen and knobs. Data is output over Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and three analog BNC channels, and acquired and analyzed with the OptoGUI software. The unit measures 380 × 180 × 148 mm (excluding handle and lens), weighs 8 kg, and runs from 110-240 V AC or 12 V DC.
The Nova-Xtra is used for long-distance, non-contact vibration measurement, including monitoring of bridges and civil infrastructure, high-rise buildings, wind turbines and other moving or rotating objects, pipelines, industrial plant and structural health monitoring on dark or rough surfaces.
