Product Description
The Optomet SMART Multi-Fiber is a fiber-based laser Doppler vibrometer that supports up to four flexible fiber heads connected to one device. It measures vibration without contact, using the Doppler effect to record velocity, displacement and acceleration at each point. The fiber heads can be operated simultaneously, so several measurement points are captured at once with synchronised timing.
Each fiber head connects to the main unit through an optical fiber cable, with a 2 m cable as standard and up to 50 m available as an option. Separating the head from the electronics allows the heads to be placed in confined spaces and in harsh conditions, including ionizing radiation and extreme temperature changes. Depending on the fiber head type, working distances range from 25 mm to 100 m.
The instrument covers a frequency bandwidth from DC to 50 MHz and velocities from 1 mm/s up to 50 m/s, with displacement measurable from 10 nm to 100 m and acceleration from 10 m/s² to 100 Mio. m/s². Signals are handled by digital FPGA-based processing. A 1550 nm measurement laser (class 1) performs the measurement and a visible 510-530 nm target laser (class 2) is used for alignment.
The main unit has a 7-inch Full HD+ touchscreen and includes data acquisition and an arbitrary signal generator. Multiple SMART Multi-Fiber devices can be connected over Ethernet with sub-nanosecond synchronisation and a single computer interface, expanding the number of synchronised measurement points beyond the four heads of one unit. The device is part of Optomet’s SMART Series and shares its connectivity, including USB, Ethernet, WiFi and Bluetooth.
