Product Description

The Optomet Vector Series is a single-point laser Doppler vibrometer in Optomet’s CLASSIC Series. It measures the velocity, displacement and acceleration of a vibrating surface without contact, using a digital free-beam helium-neon (HeNe) laser at a wavelength of 632.8 nm.

The instrument operates on the Doppler principle. The laser beam is focused onto the measurement point, and the frequency shift of the reflected light is converted into surface motion by Optomet’s UltraDSP digital signal processing. The visible, eye-safe class 2 laser (below 1 mW output) allows the beam to be aimed directly at the target, and the 632.8 nm wavelength can measure through water layers and focus on microstructures.

The Vector Series covers a frequency bandwidth from DC to 25 MHz and a maximum vibrational velocity of ±10 m/s, with 14 velocity ranges, 19 displacement ranges and 14 acceleration ranges and a displacement resolution below 100 fm. Four lens options set the working distance, from 0 to 5 m with the Short-Range lens up to 2.1 to 200 m with the Super-Long-Range lens, all with autofocus, remote focus and manual focus.

The device is operated through a 3.5-inch colour screen with a 20-segment LED bargraph, touch screen, knobs and a key switch. It provides a GBit Ethernet (RJ45) or WiFi digital output and three BNC analog outputs at 160 Msamples/s, and is controlled and read out with Optomet’s OptoGUI software. The unit measures 380 × 180 × 148 mm (excluding handle and lens) and weighs 8 kg.
